World’s Largest Web Portal for Embedded Systems Awards MeshNetics ZigBee Module
Phoenix, Arizona – May 29, 2008 – MeshNetics (www.meshnetics.com), a leading provider of ZigBee modules and embedded software for OEMs and system integrators, today announced their selection for a "Tech Choice" award in the Wireless category from eg3.com, the world’s largest web portal for embedded systems. MeshNetics’ recent announcement of an amplified ZigBee / 802.15.4 2.4 GHz RF module, the ZigBit Amp, first won the "Editors’ Choice" Award, and followed up by winning the “Readers Choice” Award. MeshNetics has become one of only 18 new companies to enter this prestigious and highly contested list.
“It is a huge honor for us to receive this award from the world’s most authoritative web portal for embedded systems,” said Vasiliy Suvorov, CEO of MeshNetics. "Our goal is to become a ZigBee House of choice for OEMs and system integrators who want to ZigBee-enable their products, while cutting the development costs and time to market. Each new ZigBee module by MeshNetics pushes the envelope by shrinking the size, expanding the operating range and extending the battery life. We see this prestigious award as a confirmation that we are on the right track to achieving our goal.”
eg3.com is the oldest and largest web resource devoted to electronic design, with a focus on embedded systems, real-time computing (RTC), and digital signal processing (DSP). Founded in late 1994, eg3.com indexes free and non-commercial design information on the net, summarizes the over 800 vendor companies that make up this marketplace, and organizes the content of major chip companies and third party vendors into a searchable "design tool" for embedded engineers and designers.
"The eg3 Tech Choice awards honor companies both as selected by our editors and by our readership for innovation in practical technologies," said Jason McDonald Senior Editor, eg3.com. "MeshNetics' new amplified ZigBee / 802.15.4 2.4GHz RF module is a great example of a product that takes an exciting technology (ZigBee) and extends it to allow for new markets and new opportunities. Not surprisingly, it won both the editors' and readers' choice categories."
For the Tech Choice Awards, the eg3.com editorial staff first identified six of today’s most exciting technology areas, i.e. virtualization, embedded processors, embedded tools, FPGAs and tools, MicroTCA, and industrial wireless. Within each category, they then selected the three most intriguing new product announcements of the previous six months, having sifted through over 1500 total news releases. The eighteen nominees across six technology categories were distinguished with “Editors’ Choice” awards. eg3.com then polled their audience, which includes more than 50,000 web users each month and 42,000 subscribers to the eClips newsletter, to arrive at one “readers’ choice” new product award for each. You can find the complete list of winners at http://www.eg3.com/etc-awards/.
The award-winning ZigBit Amp RF module was the first to successfully combine the seemingly incompatible qualities of high range and low power. Range tests showed that the ZigBit Amp module achieved a best-in-class outdoor line of sight range of 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) while keeping power consumption at a remarkably low level: only 10 µA in the sleep mode, 23 mA in receive mode, and 60 mA in transmit mode. The ZigBit Amp module’s impressive performance is attributed to its unique RF design and the outperforming link budget of 124 dB, boosted by its use of the low-power amplifier.
MeshNetics ZigBee RF modules come in small sizes, carry FCC, CE, ARIB and ZigBee certifications, and include all of the RF circuitry, microcontroller, 802.15.4/ZigBee software, and optional antennas. MeshNetics products are widely used to create reliable, self-healing wireless networks that enable solutions in building automation, energy management and efficiency, HVAC, AMR, predictive maintenance, asset tracking and other application areas.
